Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatment that enhances your body’s natural collagen production and cellular turnover via the wound healing mechanisms of your body. During treatment, an FDA-approved handheld device called a SkinPen is moved in a smooth circular motion over the treatment site.

The SkinPen has numerous small needles that quickly penetrate your skin. This results in the formation of microscopic channels within your skin. While it may seem frightening, the needles are so small that you will not experience any discomfort during therapy. If you are afraid of needles, a topical anesthetic will be administered to the treatment location so that you feel nothing.

Purpose of Microneedling

Microneedling is used to treat several skin problems, such as acne, acne scars, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, pore size, loose skin, and other imperfections. It accomplishes this by inflicting hundreds of small micro-injuries on your face’s topmost layer of skin.

This stimulates your body’s natural healing process, causing it to create more collagen and elastin. It is an excellent way to address skin disorders without causing more damage to your skin because it is a very delicate procedure that causes very little swelling, redness, and little to no bruising. To maximize the effects, it will need to be repeated on a regular basis.

Benefits of Microneedling

  • Increasing skin tone
  • Acne removal or acne scar removal
  • Getting rid of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduced hair loss (or stimulating growth)
  • Removing stretch marks and other scars
  • Tightening saggy skin

Duration of Treatment

The entire treatment only takes approximately a half-hour to perform. However, the length of your treatment will be determined on an individual basis. If you’re treating a smaller area, such as your hands, treatment will not take long.

If, on the other hand, your buttocks, back, chest, or legs require multiple passes of treatment, your session will be substantially longer. During your initial appointment, we will assess the current state of your skin’s health as well as your cosmetic goals to give you a clearer idea of how long your treatment will take.

Treatment Duration for Results

Many of our clients are surprised to learn that you can get instant benefits after treatment. “Micro-wounds” are formed when the needles reach the deepest layers of your skin. This activates your body’s wound healing processes, which rapidly heals your micro-wounds. The most significant outcomes, however, will not be noticeable for four to six weeks after therapy. It takes approximately this amount of time for your body to produce new, strong, and healthy collagen.

The Price of Treatment

The cost of your micro-needling treatment is determined by various criteria, including the number of places treated, the size of the region or areas treated, and whether or not there are any add-ons associated with your treatment. During your initial consultation, we will assess your cosmetic goals as well as the present health of your skin in order to provide you with an exact price for the cost of your procedure.

Is This Treatment Appropriate for You?

Anyone who has not used isotretinoin (Accutane) in the last three months, does not have any open wounds, abrasions, or cuts, has not had radiation skin treatment in the past 12 months, and is not suffering from an active skin infection, herpes simplex at the treatment site, or another skin condition is the best candidate for collagen induction therapy. The ideal candidate is not pregnant or nursing and has no history of hypertrophic or keloid scars or poor wound healing.

Microneedling, unlike many other laser treatments for skin rejuvenation, is safe for all skin types and tones since it does not damage the epidermis. It is safe to use on sensitive or fragile skin, such as the back of the hands, the skin on the neck, and the skin around the eyes. The danger of hyperpigmentation is reduced when conducted by an expert.

Things to Avoid Post Treatment

After treatment, abstain from using any skincare products containing acidic active ingredients, retinol, or AHAs (glycolic acid). These products should be avoided for two to three days. To prevent sun damage, you should also apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a sun protection factor of 35 or more.

Keep applying sunscreen every four to six hours for the first 72 hours after treatment. Clothing does not provide adequate solar protection. Avoid going outside between peak sunny hours for the first three days after therapy.
